Terms
Last updated October 9, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and the people who run Snapshot ("we", "us") for using the Snapshot Chrome extension, this website, our API and the Snapshot Discord bot (together, "Snapshot"). By installing or using Snapshot you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use Snapshot. Our Privacy policy explains what data we handle.
Not YouTube
Snapshot is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by YouTube or Google. YouTube, YouTube Studio and Google are trademarks of Google LLC, used here only to say what Snapshot works with. Your use of YouTube, including YouTube Studio, is governed by the YouTube Terms of Service, and the Discord bot uses YouTube API Services: by using the bot you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. YouTube may change Studio at any time, which can stop Snapshot from working.
Who can use Snapshot
You must be at least 13 and old enough to use YouTube where you live. If you're under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission. If you use Snapshot for a business or someone else's channel, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for them.
Your account and your @
- Your account is a key kept in your browser, not a password. You're responsible for keeping it and any backup file private. Anyone with your key controls your @. If you lose it and haven't saved your @ with Google, we may not be able to get it back.
- @s are first come, first served, and you don't own an @. We may refuse, rename, reclaim or remove any @, for example one that impersonates someone, infringes a trademark, is offensive or misleading, is held only to resell or block others, or that we need for Snapshot. We'll try to tell you first when we reasonably can.
- Some @s are reserved, and short @s and badges are given at our discretion. Don't buy, sell or trade @s.
Your content and what you share
- Your numbers are yours to share, and your call. Cards show the stats you choose. You decide what to post and where, and you're responsible for it. Before you share revenue or other private numbers, check that you're allowed to under any agreement you have (for example the YouTube Partner Program terms, or an agreement with an MCN, a brand or an employer); following those is up to you. Revenue only goes on a card when you turn it on for that video. Hiding your channel hides its name and picture, but your @ and the numbers can still identify you.
- Only your channels, or ones you're allowed to share. If you use Studio for someone else's channel, only make or share cards with that channel owner's permission. Only link channels to your profile that are yours or that you're authorized to represent.
- Pictures and media. You keep the rights to the profile picture, backgrounds and music you use. You confirm you have the rights to use them. By uploading a profile picture, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, copy, resize and display it as part of Snapshot (on your profile, on cards and in the bot) until you remove it or delete your account. Backgrounds and music stay on your computer and aren't uploaded to us.
- Estimates. Numbers come from YouTube and may be delayed, rounded, estimated or wrong. Don't rely on them for financial, tax or business decisions.
Rules
Don't use Snapshot to:
- impersonate anyone, or suggest you are or are endorsed by a person, channel or brand you aren't;
- make or share fake, altered or misleading stats as if they were real;
- upload anything illegal, hateful, sexual, violent, harassing or that infringes someone else's rights, including trademarks and copyright;
- break the law, YouTube's or Discord's terms, or anyone's privacy;
- get around limits (like the daily @ claim limit), claim @s in bulk, scrape our API, or interfere with, overload, probe or attack Snapshot or its users;
- copy, modify or redistribute the extension or present it as your own, except as the law allows.
Takedowns and reports
If something on Snapshot (an @, a profile picture, a linked channel) infringes your rights or breaks these terms, email i@built.so with a link to the @, what's wrong and how to reach you. For copyright, include what work is infringed and a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized and that your notice is accurate. We may remove content or accounts and, where appropriate, tell the account owner.
Ending things
You can stop anytime: delete your account from your profile and remove the extension. We may suspend or delete accounts, @s or pictures that break these terms or put Snapshot or others at risk, and we may change, pause or stop Snapshot (or any feature, like the leaderboard or the bot) at any time. Sections that by their nature should last (like the license limits, disclaimers and limits of liability) survive.
No warranty
Snapshot is free and provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise it will work with YouTube, be available, be error-free, or keep your @ or data.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Snapshot and the people behind it are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, followers or goodwill, arising from your use of Snapshot or what you share with it. Our total liability for any claim about Snapshot is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (Snapshot is currently free) or US$50. Some places don't allow some of these limits; there, they apply only as far as the law allows. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under mandatory law.
Indemnity
If you use Snapshot for a business, or where the law allows, you agree to cover our reasonable costs from claims by others that come from content you upload or share, or from your breaking these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The new version will be posted here with a new date, and for important changes we'll also tell you in the extension before they apply. If you keep using Snapshot after that, you accept the new terms.
Law and disputes
If you have a problem with Snapshot, please write to us first so we can try to sort it out. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a part isn't a waiver. These terms and the Privacy policy are the whole agreement about Snapshot.
